LegCo 2024 - Motion of Vote of Thanks

The Second Day of the First Meeting of the 20th Legislative Council (LegCo) session began with a heartfelt expression of support and appreciation for the Titah (royal speech) of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

Embracing His Majesty's guidance at the 20th Session's Opening, YB Chong highlighted the profound responsibility we hold towards our nation and its progression. Focusing on the pivotal role of the Digital Economy, she underlined its significance in line with the ASEAN Secretary-General's forecast, transforming Brunei into a Smart Nation by enhancing ICT and other sectors for sustainable development. The COVID-19 pandemic's impact on emerging enterprises, particularly in the F&B sector, showcases our resilience and innovative spirit. However, the rise in cyber threats calls for robust cybercrime strategies amid digitalization. YB Chong remains hopeful for Brunei's rebound in growth, echoing the optimism of the ASEAN +3 report.
