To the Ministers at the Prime Minister's Office:
YB Chong advocated for the establishment of a National Anti-Scam Centre. This inter-agency entity aims to cultivate collaboration among pertinent stakeholders to tackle the rise in online scams and frauds, while concurrently streamlining bureaucratic procedures. She also voiced concerns regarding the potential risks associated with disseminating personal information of missing individuals on the internet. In view of this, she proposed that the Ministry should develop a comprehensive set of media guidelines to guarantee the appropriate handling of sensitive information by the media.
Ministry of Transport and Infocummunication’s Response (MTIC):
The question was directed to the Minister of MTIC, who underscored the importance of victims reporting their incidents to BruCERT or the Royal Brunei Police Force. Moreover, he disclosed the formation of a task force dedicated to tackling fraud and scams under the National Security Committee. The Minister also emphasized several collaborative awareness campaigns regarding scam issues undertaken by CSB in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
