LegCo 2024 - Ministry of Home Affairs (part 2)

To the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA):

YB Chong underscored Ambuyat's significance as Brunei's national dish, citing its deep historical roots and traditional symbolism. Despite this, Ambuyat lacks promotion beyond national borders. YB Chong urged MoHA to partner with other ministries like MPRT and MCYS to establish a tourist hub in Ukong, the centre of Ambuyat production. She believes that promoting Ambuyat can propel Brunei's tourism endeavours while preserving its cultural heritage.

MoHA’s Response:

In discussing the promotion of Brunei’s culinary heritage, the Minister highlighted that this matter has been raised previously, identifying its potential contribution to the economy. He noted that the MPKs of Batu Apoi and Ukong have a notable presence in Ambuyat entrepreneurship. The Minister suggested fostering collaboration between these two MPKs to market Ambuyat both domestically and globally, aiming to enhance its visibility and economic impact.
