To the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA):

YB Chong initiated her inquiries to MoHA by addressing the KPI of the Tutong District Office. She noted a significant rise in revenue collection last year but expressed concern over the low targets set for the following year. YB Chong sought clarification on why the targets failed to reflect the demonstrated growth and what factors contributed to the increase in revenue.

Furthermore, YB Chong raised concerns about the training and guidance required for the Village Consultative Council (MPK). While acknowledging the new competency framework for the Village Chief and Village Head, she emphasised the necessity of a similar initiative for MPKs, highlighting their crucial role in enhancing village welfare.

MoHA’s Response:

The Minister attributed the revenue increase in 1K1P to expanded tourism platforms, such as expo sales, youth programs, and organized events facilitated by the MPKs, resulting in heightened product output.

Furthermore, the Minister appreciates YB Chong’s proposal to provide training for MPKs. He suggested adapting the Human Resource Competency Framework designed for the Penghulu and Ketua Kampong to encompass the entirety of MPK. This aligns with the established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Penghulu and Ketua Kampong, which include overseeing MPK development.
