To the Ministry of Development (MOD):
YB Chong sought clarification on the Ministry's strategies to enhance the efficiency of Occupational Permits issuance. Additionally, she stressed the significance of inter-ministerial cooperation to bolster Brunei's business environment and urged collaborative efforts among relevant ministries. Furthermore, she highlighted the necessity for the government to better incorporate public input into town and country planning processes, citing deficiencies in essential amenities provision and infrastructure development, which undermine initiatives like 1K1P.
MOD’s Response:
The Minister acknowledged delays in OP applications due to pre-submission processes and outlined measures to enhance efficiency. He endorsed YB Chong's proposal for better inter-ministerial cooperation, citing ongoing collaboration within the National Land Use Planning Council. Additionally, he mentioned a pedestrian connectivity pilot project and forthcoming sustainability initiatives aligned with the ASEAN Sustainable Urban Strategy. Lastly, he welcomed YB Chong's suggestion to boost public engagement in planning processes, ensuring the inclusion of village leaders and community representatives, to address concerns regarding business activities in residential areas.
MOHA’ Response:
The Minister reiterated the ongoing review of the BSB Development Master Plan and District Plans, striving for alignment and a holistic approach across multiple departments. He reaffirmed the collaborative endeavours between MOHA and MOD to tackle the roadside stall issue effectively. Furthermore, the Minister announced the provision of 13 land sites nationwide, fostering opportunities for entrepreneurial ventures.
